You wish to monitor a patent application's granting procedure or you would like to know whether an already granted patent is still in force (status). Or you want to know whether some individual or company might have applied for a patent. Or maybe you need to keep a close eye on what new applications have been filed by your competitor(s) in your area of business. OSIP S&W advises you in all afore-mentioned cases to put a so-called "watch" (a.k.a. alert or monitor) on, e.g., number, name, country designation or subject (or combinations thereof). The watch is a periodically repeated search with reporting. You may think about a frequency for a particular watch of for instance every month, bimonthly, quarterly or half-yearly. The watch service is a subscription-based service.
The costs (ex VAT) of watch subscription depend on the type watch – number, name, country designation(s) or subject – and prices quoted are invoiced on a quarterly or yearly basis. For watching a patent application by its number you may expect a base amount of 200 €. Sometimes it can be necessary to contact our local agent in the specific country of interest. Extra agent costs are incurred then. Of course you will be informed beforehand and asked for consent. In case of a watch by name on the name of an individual inventor or assignee (person or firm) you may expect a base amount of 300 € per name if the number of newly found (families) stays within boundaries (about 10 hits). For a larger number of hits the foresaid amount increases with 6 € per hit. For a watch on key words and/or subject patent classes each case needs separate offering. From our practice we have learned that price quotations may fall in a rather broad range of ca. 500 tot 30 000 € (ex VAT). In all cases we shall offer you a price quotation for a targeted and effective watch.
